The world's first 16-megawatt offshore wind turbines were recently installed in East China's Fujian province. The turbines used over 50,000 metric tons of steel manufactured by Jiangsu Shagang Group in Zhangjiagang, Suzhou, Jiangsu province.
The 16 MW offshore wind turbines will become the largest in the world after entering production. This represents a breakthrough in China's high-end equipment manufacturing and will promote the sustainable development of China's wind power industry.
Steel used for wind turbine towers must be very strong, resistant to low temperatures, have excellent fracture resistance, and have good welding performance and surface quality.
Shagang Group's steel boasts excellent shape, surface quality, formability, stability, and welding performance. It has been used in several major offshore wind power projects, including one in Dafeng, Yancheng, and another in Yangjiang, Guangdong. The total amount of wind turbine tower steel provided by the company has exceeded 300,000 tons.
Shagang Group, as a leading steel manufacturer, has always been committed to sustainable development and environmental responsibility. The successful application of its products in offshore wind power projects not only demonstrates the company's technical capabilities but also contributes to the advancement of China's offshore wind power industry.
