An intangible cultural heritage-related activity was launched on June 9 in Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province to celebrate China's Cultural and Natural Heritage Day, which falls on the second Saturday of June.

From June 9 to 11, the activity will feature a fair selling intangible cultural heritage products, live streaming sessions selling local specialties, and a seminar themed on best practices of using intangible cultural heritage to boost rural vitalization.

Chen Weibing, head of the publicity department of the CPC Zhangjiagang municipal committee, said the city is currently home to four national-level and 11 provincial-level intangible cultural heritage items. He urged relevant government departments to ramp up efforts to protect intangible cultural heritage, build platforms for cultural display and exchanges, as well as cultivate more ICH practitioners.

The fifth Fenghuang town intangible cultural heritage festival also kicked off during the activity. The town is home to the Tianzhuang ancient street, where many buildings from the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties are well preserved, and Xiaojiaxiang, a village known for its idyllic lifestyle.
