The Jiangsu Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment recently hosted a conference in Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, to promote the construction of zero-waste chemical industrial parks.

Jiangsu has been focusing on efficiently managing solid waste. It plans to reduce waste creation in all of its industrial parks and establish a more complete system for collecting, storing and transporting waste by 2025.

One of the provincial demonstration spots for zero waste in Zhangjiagang is the Jiangsu Yangtze River International Chemical Industry Park. The park has established a data center and a waste management platform, enabling full traceability of hazardous waste throughout the park.

The Zhangjiagang production base of Dow, a US chemical and plastics manufacturer, is another example that has achieved success in recycling and reusing solid waste.

Meixinbai Renewable Resources (Zhangjiagang) Co Ltd has also used digital technologies to transform waste into resources.

In addition, the public facilities in Zhangjiagang Bay are 3D-printed with steel slag. Invented by Yonggang Group, headquartered in the city, the steel slag recycling technology makes construction flexible, safe, and clean.
