In the recently-released 2022 Statistical Communiqué on National Economic and Social Development by the National Bureau of Statistics of China, Zhangjiagang was ranked third among all counties in terms of GDP.
On May 12, the First City think tank unveiled the 2023 report on the high-quality development of China's counties, which showed that Zhangjiagang ranked third. The ranking takes into account seven aspects, including innovation, opening-up, safety, and environmental protection.
In 2022, enterprises above the designated size in Zhangjiagang achieved a gross output value of 594.4 billion yuan ($93.2 billion), while the cargo throughput through the city's ports was 245 million metric tons. Zhangjiagang also attracted $900 million in foreign investment and made outbound investments totaling $580 million.
Zhangjiagang's remarkable performance reflects its consistent efforts to pursue high-quality development across various sectors. As a key player in the national economy, the county's achievements contribute significantly to the overall growth and progress of China.
