Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, hosted two events of the second Jiangsu "Red Pomegranate Cup" Ethnic Minorities' Traditional Sports Games from May 10 to 12.

One of the events, pearl ball, is a team sport that has its roots in the old Manchu practice of collecting pearls. In 1991, pearl ball was officially recognized as an event.

Another sport, spinning top, is popular in regions such as Yunnan, Guizhou, Hunan, Guangxi, and Fujian. In 1995, spinning top was officially recognized as an event.
