The Zhangjiagang Federation of Trade Unions and the trade union of the Changyinsha Modern Agriculture Demonstration Park recently held a volunteer activity to help farmers with rice seedling.
On May 13, eight volunteers worked with farmers on a high-speed seedling production line which can complete 1,000 seedling trays per hour. "The rice varieties we planted this year not only taste good but also have high yields," said Li Jinhua, a model worker in Jiangsu province and the manager of Lehua Family Farm in Zhangjiagang. Li added that transplantation is expected to be finished by the end of May, with harvesting to be completed by mid-October.
"To date, we have organized two volunteer service activities, assisting nearly 150 farmers. In the future, we will continue to help farmers with agricultural technology, agricultural supply procurement, and food storage to improve their production efficiency," said Fang Jie, president of the Zhangjiagang alliance of model worker innovation studios.
This year, the Changyinsha Modern Agriculture Demonstration Park will grow 25,000 mu (1,667 hectares) of rice.
