Enterprises in Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in East China's Jiangsu province, are driving the city's development with innovative technologies.

Jiangsu Shagang Group, for example, recently put into operation China's first automated production line for processing medium-sick steel plates. The line, made up of eight robots, was developed, manufactured, and integrated by Shagang Group and China Building Material Test & Certification Group.

Shagang Group boasts the first high-end wire rod intelligent manufacturing demonstration base, first commercial fully automatic steelmaking production line, and first independently-developed blast furnace intelligent diagnosis system in China.

Jiangsu Sevencontinent Green Chemical Co Ltd in Leyu town, Zhangjiagang also has automated intelligent production lines. Each workshop in the factory has two operators who can monitor and control the whole production process from the central control room.

In addition, to make more technological innovations, the company established the Jiangsu Sevencontinent Green Technology Research Institute in 2020, which has 21 invention patents and 20 utility model patents and has applied for one patent cooperation treaty (PCT) international patent.
