Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, has been making efforts to boost the high-quality development of the culture industry over the past decade.

The city has established the Zhangjiagang software industrial park, which named a national demonstration base for the culture industry.

The park is currently home to three listed cultural enterprises and 116 cultural enterprises above designated size.

In addition, construction is underway on 30 cultural projects with a total investment of 11.9 billion yuan ($1.64 billion).

In 2021, Zhangjiagang unveiled related policies and established a special fund of 300 million yuan to support the city's culture industry.

In addition, Zhangjiagang has in recent years been advancing the integration of the culture and tourism industries.

In 2020, the Shazhouyouhuang mixed use cultural park, which is largely themed on huangjiu (yellow wine) culture, was named a provincial demonstration for "all for one" tourism.

The city has also established 10 revolutionary tourism routes to boost the local tourism industry. The routes have to date served more than 100,000 people.

Zhangjiagang currently has three major historical and cultural sites protected at the national level, four national intangible cultural heritage projects, four national 4A scenic spots and one provincial tourist resort.

The improvement of public cultural services in the city also benefits the development of the culture industry.

In June, Zhangjiagang established a miniature library with more than 5,000 books at the bus hub station. Citizens can borrow books themselves using citizen cards, ID cards or WeChat.
