The Zhangjiagang Urban Administration Bureau has carried out the comprehensive management of urban and rural environments over the past decade to create a more livable environment, local media reported.
Zhangjiagang in 1993 established a supervision team for urban management and in 2001 set up the urban management bureau. The bureau aims to improve urban management.
The improvement in urban management has contributed to the upgrading of urban construction.
Since 2020, more than 80 public toilets have been added and over 200 public toilets have been rebuilt in Zhangjiagang.
The bureau has also promoted a parking facilitation project in the city. In 2021, the city added 5,772 parking spaces, and it is expected to add 6,856 parking spaces in 2022.
Due to the bureau's efforts in urban management, Zhangjiagang was named the "model city of living environment in Jiangsu province".
