Zhangjiagang's tourism market further rebounds during Mid-Autumn Festival

The culture and tourism market in Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province experienced a robust recovery during the Mid-Autumn Festival, which took place from Sept 10 to 12, as a variety of festive activities were held at the city's tourist attractions.


Zhangjiagang's scenic areas received 94,000 tourists during the holiday, up 21.19 percent compared to last year. Their operating revenue and ticket revenue during the period were 2.2 million yuan ($315,306) and 712,600 yuan, up 123.05 percent and 17.71 percent year-on-year respectively.


Attractions including the Xiangshan Mountain scenic area, the Jiyang Lake scenic area, and Yonglian Small Town organized a series of activities such as lightshows to entertain visitors. Most tourists were local residents or from surrounding areas. Nighttime tours were their favorite activity.


Public cultural venues, including Zhangjiagang Museum, the Zhangjiagang Cultural Center, Zhangjiagang Library and the Xiju Opera Art Center, held 36 activities which attracted 46,700 visitors during the holiday.


Eight star-rated hotels in the city received 1,771 guests from Sept 10 to 12 and generated 4.75 million yuan in revenue, a year-on-year increase of 41.19 percent. A total of 17,000 people visited the theaters, which saw box office takings hit 699,000 yuan during the holiday.
