The Zhangjiagang branch of State Grid recently completed installations of all power facilities that would provide electricity for the construction of the Zhangjiagang-Jingjiang-Rugao Yangtze River Bridge.
After considering the power usage requirements, construction site conditions, and plans of the bridge project, the electric utility company suggested renting equipment to the contractor, said Zhou Yan, an account manager at the company's marketing department. This solution, he added, is more flexible as customers have more control over their power usage and can reduce costs.
Zhu Qimin, a project manager responsible for the Yangtze River bridge, said the rental services only cost 580,000 yuan ($83,256.22) a year, and this will help them save 1.1 million yuan. In addition, the installation of power facilities, which would have normally taken about 120 days, took just 70 days to complete.
The professional services offered by the Zhangjiagang utility company will accelerate the construction of the bridge, said Zhu.
The Zhangjiagang-Jingjiang-Rugao Yangtze River Bridge, which will be open to traffic in June 2028, is aimed at facilitating travel between Suzhou, Nantong and Taizhou, as well as aiding the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region.
