Nangang village in Jinfeng town, Zhangjiagang, Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province has been using digital technologies to improve its environment and people's lives.

The village recently installed more than 50 cameras to monitor its roads, rivers and dumps so that staff at the villagers' committee can deal with environment-related issues in a timely manner. It has also planted greenery along several rivers and set up sensors to monitor the level, quality and PH value of river water.

Villagers in Nangang can report environment-related issues on the WeChat mini program “Smart Nangang” and staff at the villagers' committee have pledged to respond to these matters within six hours.

The village has also engraved a QR code on the doorplate of each home. Residents can scan the QR code to receive latest information about the village and deal with matters related to pension and housing.
