Local governments in Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province have been moving meetings and events online to continue attracting high-tech projects as group gatherings have been prohibited during the current COVID-19 outbreak.

The city's bureau of commerce and a department responsible for attracting high-tech businesses have held a number of video conferences with think tanks and intermediary institutions, such as ICwise, the Orange Group, KPMG, and China Investment Corporation, to discuss projects related to new energy, semiconductor, and high-end intelligent equipment sectors, as well as explore future cooperation.

The Zhangjiagang Economic and Technological Development Zone plans to organize a series of online promotional events this year to attract more global talents to start businesses in the city.

On March 18, directors of 44 projects engaged in the electronic information, equipment manufacturing, new materials and new energy, and biomedicine industries shared their project plans during an online meeting with an expert panel. These projects are expected to be initiated in Zhangjiagang in the near future.

In addition, Zhangjiagang's Fenghuang town had on March 19 held talks with investors of a semiconductor cleaning equipment production plant and discussed issues like the signing of an agreement and company registration. The project is expected to receive an investment of 160 million yuan ($25.12 million).
