The toasted sesame pancakes made by a pastry shop near the east gate of the Chenyang Farmers' Market in Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province are hugely popular among locals.

The shop, which was opened eight years ago, starts to make the pancakes from 3:00 pm every day and can sell up to 1,000 of them daily. Customers can choose salty ones with black sesame seeds or sweet ones with white sesame seeds. Each pancake is sold for 1.5 yuan ($0.24).

The shop also sells baozi (steamed stuffed buns), mantou (steamed buns) and other kinds of pancakes in the morning.
