Many volunteers in Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province have taken part in the fight against COVID-19 after a number of locally transmitted cases were reported in the city.
They are helping conduct nucleic acid tests, deliver basic necessities to people undergoing quarantine, and with other work.
Wu Yucheng, who works at the Zhangjiagang Municipal Cultural Center, volunteered at a designated quarantine hotel in Suzhou on Feb 17, where he was responsible for collecting and reporting information as well as distributing supplies to people undergoing quarantine.
On Feb 21, the first group of people to be released from quarantine left the hotel, which was a good sign, Wu wrote in his diary.
