The supply and marketing cooperative and agriculture and rural affairs bureau of Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province is stepping up efforts to ensure sufficient agricultural supplies during the busy spring faming season.
As of Feb 16, Zhangjiagang Agricultural Supplies Co had stocked 500 tons of urea fertilizer, 530 tons of compound fertilizer, 10.5 tons of herbicides for wheat, and 5 tons of common herbicides. It also reserves 700 tons of urea fertilizer, 1,100 tons of compound fertilizer, 5 tons of herbicides in wheat, and 25 tons of common herbicides.
The city's agricultural machinery promotion department has asked operators to maintain and test nearly 300 sets of plant protection equipment and 70 drones. Volunteers from the department and many technicians are also traveling to farms to help deal with mechanical issues.
Agricultural supplies can also be delivered directly to farms with a simple phone call, said Wu Jian, owner of a family farm in Jincun village in Zhangjiagang.
