Located in the northwest of Zhangjiagang, Shuangshan Island has the most pristine environment among areas in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. Visitors can take a sightseeing vehicle, a tour bus or ride bicycles around the island.
Winter is an ideal time to visit the island's Dabodun Wetland Park. At this time of year, reeds along the river are blooming while dawn redwoods have turned brown, and flocks of migrant birds can be seen everywhere.
At restaurants on the island, a number of local specialties such as braised fish in brown sauce and fish head soup are being served.
