Zhangjiagang takes lead in preliminary modernization

Zhangjiagang has been ranked second for its achievements in industrial transformation, ecological renovation as well as civilization construction, according to the 2021 preliminary modernization index of county-level cities in China released on Dec 1.
This year, Zhangjiagang has sped its pace of industrial transformation and introduced a number of projects such as the Spotlight Automotive Project jointly invested by BMW Group and Great Wall Motors, the CRRC hydrogen energy project, and the Xinyi Jiangsu industrial base project, all of which would contribute to the high-quality development of the city.
In terms of ecological renovation, the proportion of Zhangjiahang's ecological coastline has exceeded 50 percent. The ecological restoration of Zhangjiagang Bay has also won the recognition of the United Nations.
As a national civilized city, Zhangjiagang holds the China (Zhangjiagang) Yangtze River Culture and Art Festival each year to promote cultural exchanges and economic cooperation among the cities in the Yangtze River Delta.
Zhangjiagang has also been bolstering efforts to strengthen the protection and utilization of cultural resources such as the Huangsipu Site and Dongshan village Site.
