Zhangjiagang academician elected into CAS

Zhu Min from Zhangjiagang, East China's Jiangsu province was elected to be an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences on Nov 18.

 

In 1990, Zhu received his PhD from the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology. He then worked at this institute. From 1993 to 1996, Zhu conducted his post-doctoral research at the French National Museum of Natural History.

 

At present, Zhu is the director of the key laboratory of vertebrate evolution and human origins of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as a professor at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences.

 

In addition, Zhu has won many valuable awards for his research, such as the China Youth Science and Technology Award in 2004 and the National Natural Science Award (second class) in 2013.

 

Currently, Zhu and his team have been engaged in the research of fish fossils during the Silurian period (440 million to 410 million years ago), which has made major breakthroughs.

 

Moving forward, Zhu will focus on the construction of a big data platform, which will be a pioneering work and will contribute to the development of the International Research Center of Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals.
