Contemporary visual art exhibition underway in Zhangjiagang

A contemporary visual art exhibition opened at Zhangjiagang Art Museum in Zhangjiagang, East China’s Jiangsu province on Oct 26 to present intangible cultural heritage items. 


Fourteen contemporary artists were invited to create artwork based on the intangible cultural heritage items along the Yangtze River, such as lacquer art, Suzhou embroidery, and paper folding.

A total of 801 people spanning a wide range of ages and occupations were invited to take part in the art creation under the instruction of the artists and inheritors of the intangible cultural heritage items.

Feng Jia, a staff member of Zhangjiagang Art Museum, said that the exhibition is expected to familiarize residents with local intangible cultural heritage items and increase their awareness for protecting these items. 


The exhibition will last until Dec 20.
