Precious cultural relics on display at Zhangjiagang Museum

Nearly 100 valuable cultural relics discovered along the Yangtze River are on display at Zhangjiagang Museum in Zhangjiagang, East China's Jiangsu province from Oct 28 to Feb 16, 2022, local media reported.

All the cultural relics come from famous historical sites, including the Sanxingdui site in Sichuan province and the Mawangdui tombs of the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220) in Hunan province.

Bronze bust

A bronze bust made during the Shang Dynasty was unearthed from the Sanxingdui site in Sichuan province. A large number of similar sculptures were also unearthed, proving that a highly developed bronze civilization appeared early in the Sichuan Basin of the Yangtze River Delta.


Chimes

Discovered from an Eastern Zhou Dynasty tomb in Jiangling county, Hubei province, this set of chimes is found to be the earliest with the largest number and mature musical performance in China, which is capable of presenting the five musical tones Do, Re, Mi, So and La.



Gold coins

These gold coins were unearthed from the Haihun Marquis tomb in Jiangxi province. At that time, gold coins were not used as currency but as rewards, gifts, tributes.
