Zhangjiagang in East China's Jiangsu province began offering COVID-19 booster shots free of charge to people aged 18 and above who have been fully vaccinated for six months, local media reported on Oct 21.
Priority will be given to people with a high risk of infection and disease transmission or who are at risk of developing severe cases.
People intending to get an additional shot will be given the same vaccine made by the same company. If supplies of a particular vaccine run short, other vaccines of the same type, but created by a different company can be used as an alternative.
People who have received other vaccines, including an influenza vaccine, should receive COVID-19 booster shots after more than 14 days.
