Zhangjiagang's economy grows in H1

Zhangjiagang generated 140.26 billion yuan ($21.71 billion) in total production value from January to June, up 13.2 percent year-on-year, the municipal statistics bureau announced on July 29.
In the first six months of this year, the added value of the city's primary industries reached 993 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 0.4 percent. Meanwhile, Zhangjiagang's secondary and tertiary industries had an added value of 68.10 billion yuan and 71.17 billion yuan, an increase of 13.8 percent and 12.8 percent year-on-year respectively.
In the first half of the year, industries above designated size in Zhangjiagang generated 286.81 billion yuan in total output value, a year-on-year increase of 31.9 percent. The growth rate was 5.4 percentage points higher than the average level of Suzhou.
In terms of industrial structure, the city's industrial output value of strategic emerging industries reached 112.33 billion yuan, increasing 33.9 percent year-on-year and accounting for 39.2 percent of the total industrial output value.
In terms of innovation, in the January to May period, the city approved 359 invention patents, growing 72.6 percent year-on-year. Meanwhile, the city acquired 7,533 valid invention patents, up 20.2 percent year-on-year.
The city received a total investment of 29.03 billion yuan in fixed assets in the first half of the year, up 8.3 percent year-on-year.
During the same period, the city's total retail sales of consumer goods reached 38.36 billion yuan, growing 27.6 percent year-on-year. Specifically, the retail sales of new energy vehicles surged 940.7 percent year-on-year.
In the first six months, the city's total import and export volume reached $20.38 billion, soaring 29.7 percent year-on-year.
In the first half of the year, the steady growth in income brought continuous improvement to people's livelihoods and well-being. The city's per capita disposable income of residents reached 33,950 yuan, increasing by 13.1 percent year-on-year. The general public budget revenue grew 12 percent year-on-year to 14.33 billion yuan.
