The first module of a Russian liquefied natural gas project was successfully boarded at a terminal of the Zhangjiagang Port on July 21, starting the Russian Journey to the North Pole.
This giant natural gas module is about 46 meters long, 34 meters wide, and 37.4 meters high, and has a volume of over 60,000 cubic meters.
The stainless steel pipes, valves, temperature control devices, power controls, and other components involved in the project are valued at 4.48 million euros ($5.28 million).
"Our customs has arranged for special personnel to deal with the export of large-scale heavy-loading projects so that this batch of equipment is free of import duties when it arrives in Russia," said Wu Lijun, a customs officer.
Yu Jun, assistant general manager of the new heavy container terminal at the Zhangjiagang Port, said that the terminal will continue to contribute to economic development.
Jiangsu Libert INC, a Zhangjiagang-based company, undertook the module manufacturing task of the Arctic LNG project in Russia. The first module started being built in July 2020 and was successfully delivered in June.
