Zhangjiagang in East China's Jiangsu province this year plans to build 32 new public restrooms and upgrade 74 existing ones.

Taking into consideration factors such as nearby traffic, customer flow, surrounding environment, and supporting facilities, the newly established public restrooms will feature unisex toilets, baby care rooms, and dressing rooms. Every toilet seat will be well-ventilated and feature an emergency button.

In addition, the new restrooms will be rendered more hygiene and humane, boasting management and tool storage rooms, and a set of intelligent equipment that can monitor the air quality, reduce the foul smell, and get rid of mosquitoes.

Old or damaged devices in existing restrooms will be replaced with new ones. The septic tanks, sewage pipelines, and signs in the restrooms will be improved as well.
