Zhangjiagang in Jiangsu province ushered in a prosperous consumption during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday from June 12 to 14.

Commercial districts in Zhangjiagang held a series of Dragon Boat Festival cultural activities like making rice dumplings, which attracted families to participate in and create a strong festive atmosphere.

Local businesses have launched various promotional activities like affordable family banquets to drive festive catering consumption. Some have used emerging methods of online and offline integration to accumulate popularity.

"During the holiday, our business is much better than usual, with the daily turnover increasing about 20 percent," said a staff member of a coffee shop in Zhangjiagang. Clothing shops had attracted popularity through discounts and reductions.

The movie market is also booming. There are 22 movies being released in Zhangjiagang's studios during the holiday, covering types like comedy, horror, animation, attracting many parents and children.

"This year, the number of holiday films has increased by about 20 percent than usual," said Guo Lemiao, manager of Zhangjiagang Atmos cinema.
