Yonglian village listed among 100 red sites in Jiangsu

The first batch of 100 red sites in East China's Jiangsu province was released recently, with Yonglian village in Zhangjiagang, among those that were selected, according to local news outlets.

Names of the listed places contain historical, geographic, and cultural information, reflecting the rich history and touching deeds of the Communist Party of China. These places are vivid teaching materials for strengthening the construction of "socialist spiritual civilization," as well as for stimulating patriotic education.


The 100 red sites names are divided into categories: 18 villages and districts, 76 memorial places and buildings, as well as six mountains, rivers, lakes, and islands.


With an area of 12 square kilometers and more than 11,000 residents, Yonglian village was built in 1970. Over the past 50 years of construction and development, the village has maintained its goal of building a modernized countryside.

The village has embarked on a development path that is driven by industrialization to realize agricultural rural modernization. In 2020, enterprises in the village achieved 101.8 billion yuan ($15.93 billion) in sales, while the average annual income of villagers exceeded 60,000 yuan.
