The 2021 Suzhou Zhangjiagang Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition concluded in Beijing on May 22, with 16 enterprises going into the final round.
The competition, sponsored by the Zhangjiagang municipal government, aimed to offer a platform for outstanding talents and high-quality projects to display themselves, as well as start business in Zhangjiagang.
Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in East China's Jiangsu province, is located at the center of the Yangtze River Delta and boasts unique geographical advantages. Over the past 50 years, the city has developed itself into a modern city with a sound business environment and a strong industrial agglomeration effect, according to a local official.
Boasting unique geographical advantages, as well as a sound environment for innovation and entrepreneurship, Zhangjiagang has witnessed sharp economic growth over recent years. Statistics show that the city has established trade contacts with more than 300 ports in over 60 countries and regions. Zhangjiagang Port is the largest international trading port along the Yangtze River, and was rated by the World Health Organization as an international sanitary port.
The city is currently home to nearly 1,200 enterprises above designated size, 23 listed companies, more than 1,300 foreign enterprises, and 56 Global Fortune 500 companies.
