The county-level city of Zhangjiagang in East China's Jiangsu province ranked first among the country's top 100 counties and county-level cities in terms of investment environment on a list released by the Insight China magazine on May 21.

The list included 2,757 counties and county-level cities and was based on eight criteria such as investment prospects and the efficiency of the local government.

In recent years, Zhangjiagang has ramped up efforts to optimize its business environment, explore growth potential, and stimulate the city's development.

Adhering to an innovation-driven development pattern, Zhangjiagang has rolled out an array of measures to pursue high-quality development by enhancing its scientific and technological innovation capacity this year.

Local authorities said that this year, Zhangjiagang will accelerate its development of a modernized economy and make greater efforts to foster innovation-driven development as well as promote industrial transformation and upgrading.
