The county-level city of Zhangjiagang in East China's Jiangsu province has made remarkable progress in helping Yanhe Tujia autonomous county out of poverty since they established "pairing assistance" relations in 2013, according to a local news report on May 6.

Pan Guoqiang, Party secretary of Zhangjiagang, said that carrying out collaboration and paired assistance between the eastern and western regions is a strategy by the CPC Central Committee to promote coordinated regional development and common prosperity. Over the years, Zhangjiagang has strengthened collaboration and paired assistance with Yanhe to encourage a flow of talent, capital, and technology to the area and allow it to further develop.

Pan added that in the future, Zhangjiagang will strengthen cooperation with Yanhe, and align efforts to consolidate and expand their achievements in poverty alleviation with efforts to promote rural revitalization.

Ren Tingli, Party secretary of Yanhe, thanked Zhangjiagang for its support in the fight against poverty. The latter has made strong efforts to reduce poverty by boosting employment and industrial development, with a number of industrial projects launched in Yanhe to help consolidate the development foundations of the county.

Zhangjiagang also announced that it will continue to consolidate the results of its poverty elimination efforts, combine new measures with rural revitalization in Yanhe by supporting the county's industrial development, and help impoverished people access education.
