The county-level city of Zhangjiagang in East China's Jiangsu province held a special activity in the cities of Lianyungang and Yancheng on April 23 and 24 to promote its cultural and tourism products.
The activity, which featured intangible cultural heritage exhibitions, Suzhou Pingtan performances, and specialty products displays, offered local residents a platform to have close encounters with the special charm of the port city.
"Zhangjiagang boasts rich cultural and tourism resources, such as Xiangshan Mountain, Shuangshan Island, Zhangjiagang Bay, and Tianzhuang ancient town, as well as a number of intangible cultural heritage items like Heyang Folk Song and traditional local cuisines," said a staff member of the city's cultural and tourism bureau.
With the opening of the Yantong High-speed Railway Line, which connects the cities of Yancheng and Nantong and is also the first high-speed railway line with a designed speed of 350 km per hour in northern Jiangsu, the travel time from Zhangjiagang to Lianyungang and Yancheng has been reduced to about two hours. The line will help promote the development of the central and northern parts of Jiangsu, as well as further boost the railway inter-connectivity in the Yangtze River Delta.
Designated as a provincial demonstration area for "all-for-one" tourism, Zhangjiagang in recent years has bolstered efforts to boost the development of ecological tourism by fully integrating its unique local culture and ecological resources.
The city also launched a characteristic event titled "Colorful Night in Zhangjiagang" to bolster its nighttime economy. New measures were taken to enrich public nightlife, such as promoting the culture, catering, and accommodation sectors, improving services at libraries, museums, and sports venues, as well as introducing nighttime travel routes.
