The county-level city of Zhangjiagang, Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, will focus on economic development, quality of life, the environment, social etiquette and civility, and Party building in order to promote the innovative development of the city this year, according to a local news report on Feb 19.

According to its development plan, the city will work to further the integration of the industrial and innovation chains for the hydrogen industry and make them more competitive.

In addition, more focus will be given to promoting the high-quality development of the city's eight key industrial chains, and a high-tech industrial park for new energy resources, new materials, and intelligent high-end equipment will be established.

E-government services will be promoted as well in an effort to further optimize the business environment, and efforts will also be made to accelerate the digital transformation of Zhangjiagang's traditional industries.

This year marks the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) for economic and social development and the start of the country's new journey towards becoming a modern socialist country. Zhangjiagang will continue to improve its people's quality of life with over 80 percent of the city's total annual public spending to be spent in this area.

Efforts will also be made to renovate old urban residential communities and build a beautiful countryside and environmental protection facilities to improve living standards.
