Yangshe town in the county-level city of Zhangjiagang, East China's Jiangsu province has made remarkable progress in managing and protecting its waterways, local media reported on Dec 16.
The town launched a project entitled "ecological and beautiful waterways" earlier this year, with a total of 20 waterways having been beautified and better protected.
Local authorities said that the town plans to build 37 beautiful, environmentally-friendly waterways in 2021, aiming to strengthen the outflow system and improve the aquatic ecosystem of rivers, as well as promote the construction of a beautiful countryside.
Yujiaxu River in Nongyi village, Yangshe town is 365 meters long and has more than 30 households along its banks. The village has adopted an array of measures to restore the aquatic system as well as dredge and broaden waterways. [Photo/zjgonline.com.cn]
