Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, will build a new sports center in an effort to advance the national fitness campaign and inspire wider public engagement in sports, local news reported on Dec 7.
The new sports center is expected to be located in Tangqiao town in the city's high-tech zone and will consist of outdoor and indoor stadiums, an indoor swimming pool, and a fitness center.
The stadium will be Jiangsu's biggest sports center with a maximum capacity of 30,000 people.
Local authorities have said that the center will include facilities for entertainment, shopping, culture, and sports, and construction is expected to begin at the end of 2021.
