Two themed agricultural parks in the county-level city of Zhangjiagang in East China's Jiangsu province were upgraded to provincial ones by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Agricultural and Rural Affairs, increasing the total number to eight, local media reported Nov 27.
A local official said that the agricultural parks will meet the public's diversified and multilevel consumption needs, and inject new impetus into the city's rural revitalization.
Zhangjiagang Shenyuan Grape Park, established in 1981, is one of the country's largest comprehensive service providers of grapes. It has established three demonstration bases in Zhangjiagang, Yunnan province and Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, with a total planting area of 113 hectares. The bases have played an important role in helping local farmers increase incomes and promote rural revitalization.
Covering an area of 20 hectares, Zhangjiagang Qicai Lotus Park is located in Tangqiao town, and runs under the theme of lotus culture. The park consists of two sections: leisure agriculture and rural tourism demonstration site, and characteristic homestay area. It offers an array of colorful activities for visitors, such as dining, catering and fruit picking.
Zhangjiagang authorities said that agricultural parks are expected to help Zhangjiagang form a complete industrial chain of agriculture, and will facilitate the development of the city's agricultural modernization and rural revitalization strategy.
