The county-level city of Zhangjiagang in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, was recently named a national civilized city, according to a notice released by the Central Civilization Office on Nov 10.

This is the sixth time that Zhangjiagang has achieved this honor.

The city has been making strong efforts this year to improve the local environment and promote the development of a safe city governed by the rule of law.

There were 133 cities included on the 6th list of national civilized cities, including two provincial capitals, 12 urban districts of municipalities directly under the central government, 40 prefecture-level cities, and 79 county-level cities and counties.
