The county-level city of Zhangjiagang in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province has made great achievements in rural revitalization over the past years, local media reported.
Statistics have shown that by the end of 2019, the total assets of the city's 163 rural cooperatives was 24.3 billion yuan ($3.68 billion). The per capita disposable income of its rural residents exceeded 35,500 yuan last year, and the income ratio of urban and rural residents narrowed to 1:1.953.
Pan Guoqiang, Party secretary of Zhangjiagang, said that the city has beefed up its efforts to strengthen its village collective economy, which has helped increase the income of local farmers and promoted the development of its agricultural sector.
Taking the city's Yonglian village as an example, local authorities said that over years of development, Yonglian village has promoted integrated development between primary, secondary and tertiary industries, and developed itself into a modern village with a modern industrial chain.
In the future, Zhangjiagang will continue to promote its industries, natural environment, and living standards in order to develop into a more livable and beautiful city.
In March, the Suzhou government rolled out a three-year action plan to further modernize its agricultural sector. According to the plan, Zhangjiagang will take a leading role in Suzhou to promote the modernization of agriculture and rural areas.
