Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province, celebrated the third Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival in Yonglian village Sept 22, a day which also marked the village's 50th anniversary.
Yonglian was the main venue for the annual event, which took place Sept 21 and 22 this year.
In addition to an opening ceremony and a themed evening show, there were exhibitions and demonstrations of modern agricultural machinery and equipment, as well as livestreaming sales of agricultural products. Participants and visitors were shown around the beautiful village to see the rich regional characteristics of Suzhou.
Also on the agenda were 12 activities designed to celebrate a bumper harvest and the 50th anniversary of the village.
Yonglian was built in 1970 on reclaimed land. During its five decades, it has grown from a poor place into a rich, modern village, thanks to the practice of "promoting urbanization driven by industrialization to realize basic modernization of agriculture and rural areas."
Themed Happy Harvest, Striving for Modernization, the festival displayed the level of agricultural modernization in Jiangsu, the extent to which the three main industries have merged, and the high quality of local agricultural products.
