4 Zhangjiagang townships among top 100 in China

Four townships in the county-level city of Zhangjiagang, Suzhou, Jiangsu province, made it onto a list of the top 100 townships, according to the China Township Comprehensive Competitiveness Report 2019, which was released Sept 8.

 

Yangshe town (3rd)


The general public budget income of Yangshe town in the Zhangjiagang Economic and Technological Development Zone totaled 5.47 billion yuan ($809 million) in 2019, its tax revenue was 11.13 billion yuan and the actual utilization of foreign capital in the town exceeded $100 million.

 

In recent years, the town has developed a modern industrial chain focusing on its leading industries of compound semiconductors, intelligent equipment and green energy resources. Modern services in international trade, service outsourcing and animation software have also witnessed a boom in recent years.

 

Local authorities said that the town will ride a wave created by the opening of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway, and continue to promote the development of three strategic emerging industries – semiconductors, new energy vehicles and intelligent equipment.

 

Jingang town (4th)


The gross industrial output value above designated size in Jingang town in Zhangjiagang Bonded Zone totaled 119 billion yuan, and its foreign trade volume was $15.33 billion in 2019.

 

The town has been paying attention to the transformation and upgrading of its traditional industries. It has cultivated an integrated development pattern and grown into an important gathering place for modern industries and bulk commodities. 

 

Jinfeng town (8th)


Jinfeng town in the Yangtze Metallurgical Industrial Park now houses more than 1,500 industrial enterprises, 19 of which reported sales revenue of more than 10 billion yuan in 2019. It has cultivated four characteristic industries: metallurgy, new building materials, high-end equipment, and medical apparatuses and instruments.

 

In 2019, the gross industrial output value above designated size in the town totaled 155.4 billion yuan, and its foreign trade volume was $5 billion.

 

Nanfeng town (65th)


During the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020), Nanfeng town has pursued transformation and innovation development. The town is now speeding up the construction of six industrial parks, including a precision mechanical and electrical industrial park.

 

In the first half of 2020, more than half of the town's key enterprises realized positive growth in sales revenue.
