The county-level city of Zhangjiagang in East China's Jiangsu province has been promoting the integration of its economy and industry, aiming to fully integrate into the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region, local news reported Sept 3.

The opening of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway brought new growth opportunities to the city. It secured 50 projects worth 43 billion yuan ($6.14 billion) at the 2020 Zhangjiagang City Innovation and Development (Shanghai) Promotion Meeting held in the city, and the high-quality projects are sure to help Zhangjiagang and Shanghai accelerate the pace of transformation and upgrading, and achieve a win-win situation.

Local authorities said that Zhangjiagang has held these promotion meetings in Shanghai for two consecutive years, with more than 90 investment projects valued at 67.3 billion yuan secured.

Relying on its advanced manufacturing industry, Zhangjiagang has beefed up efforts to promote the development of the digital economy, new energy, biological medicine, hydrogen energy, semiconductors and high-end equipment. The city also sped up integration between its manufacturing industry and service sector, aiming to establish high-quality industrial distribution.

The city also plans to speed up construction of the Zhangjiagang High-speed Rail New Town, which is aimed at bolstering the city's integration into the YRD region.
