Yangshe town in the Zhangjiagang Economic and Technological Development Zone has been making strong efforts to develop more high-yield farmland in an effort to increase the overall capacity of agricultural production, local media reported on Aug 19.
Zhou Zetao, a man from Tongling city in Anhui, recently contracted nearly 200 mu (13.33 hectares) of farmland to grow rice and wheat in Liming village, Yangshe town. Zhou said that thanks to efforts by the local government to upgrade irrigation facilities, farming has become more efficient and convenient.
