The county-level city of Zhangjiagang in East China's Jiangsu province resumed interprovincial travel group tours on July 23, allowing scenic spots in the city to open with 50 percent capacity.

A visitor of a tour group from Shanghai, surnamed Zhang, said that the opening of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway has made it easier for people to travel to Zhangjiagang. He added he felt safe to bring his family on vacation in Zhangjiagang because of the city's comprehensive and strict prevention and control measures.

Local authorities said that the relaxed restrictions on travel will provide a much-needed boost to the tourism market.

According to the city's Culture, Tourism, Sports, Radio and Television Bureau, outbound tourism is still not permitted.

The tourist sites that have resumed operations are prohibited from exceeding 50 percent of maximum visitor capacity, and non-contact methods such as mobile payment, e-tickets and guide machines should be utilized to minimize chances of infection.

Tourist sites are also required to have visitors make online reservations in advance and undergo real-name registration as part of efforts to control visitor flow and prevent large gatherings of people.
