The Japanese "ro-ro" (roll-on/roll off) cargo ship, Helios Leader, docked at the Zhangjiagang Port on June 16, reflecting the progress that the port has made in parallel importing cars through ro-ro transportation.
The ship, loaded with 356 imported cars from Dubai, spent 22 days on the water before arriving at Zhangjiagang Port on June 16. Customs officials have made full preparations to ensure fast and convenient customs clearance.
Local authorities said that government at all levels in Jiangsu province have introduced an array of favorable policies to promote the parallel-importing of cars.
As a result, a complete supply chain integrating services such as customs clearance, detection and warehouse logistics has taken shape at the port, and customs clearance of vehicles at the port was reduced to less than a day.
As the only port in Jiangsu authorized to handle pre-assembled automobiles, Zhangjiagang Port has seen steady growth in vehicle imports and exports in recent years, and an industrial chain is taking shape at the port.
Gu Yiwen, an official of the port, said that it will take full advantage of the opportunities it has been granted, and aims to make Zhangjiagang Port a comprehensive and pivotal port for vehicle imports and exports.
