Two Zhangjiagang steel enterprises, Jiangsu Yonggang Group and Jiangsu Shagang Group, were included on the list of China's leading enterprises in terms of green development, according to a news report on June 9.
Jiangsu Shagang Group, a World Top 500 enterprise headquartered in Zhangjiagang, is the largest private metallurgical enterprise in China and has promoted the idea of green development. It aims to become a resource-conserving and environmentally friendly enterprise.
Over the years, it has injected more than 20 billion yuan ($2.82 billion) into upgrading and transforming several key energy conservation and environmental protection projects and has set up five circulatory systems.
Jiangsu Yonggang Group, a steel company based in Yongliang village, was founded in 1984 and has developed into a modern and competitive iron and steel company in eastern China.
In recent years, Yonggang has made significant progress in building a green industrial chain and promoting the recycling of resources, ensuring that the discharge of all pollutants exceed the national standard. The group was listed as a demonstration base in the promotion of green development by the National Energy Conservation Center in 2015.
