Construction on a training camp for fixed-wing aircraft and powered paragliding and a spring hotel is currently underway at the Shuangshan Xiangshan tourist resort in Zhangjiagang, East China’s Jiangsu province.
The Shuangshan Island Aviation Flight Camp began construction on Dec 30, 2019. It will cover an area of about 26 hectares and receive 100 million yuan ($14.34 million) in investment.
The camp aims to become one of the Yangtze River Delta region’s most comprehensive flight camps, combining training, sports, exhibitions, and tourism.
Workers are currently busy carrying out landscaping work and planting flowers, including lavenders and Chinese roses. According to Dai Liping, a spokesperson for the project, the layout of the camp is nearly decided. The runway is 650 meters long and 50 m wide.
The first section of infrastructure has been completed and is expected to open in May. Recruitment for fixed-wing aircraft and powered paragliding training courses will also begin in May.
Along with the camp, a spring hotel to the east of Shuangshan ancient street is also under construction. The reception hall, guest rooms and spring pools have been completed, while interior decoration and landscaping are currently underway.
The hotel, designed using a Southeast Asian style, includes eight spring pools and a family swimming pool and will start trial operations before July.
officials said construction will soon begin on other supporting facilities, including a tourist service center, a homestay cluster, a historical park, a water park, several family farms, and restaurants.
