Zhangjiagang ranked third among China's 100 strongest counties in 2019 with its regional production volume over 40 billion yuan ($5.81 billion), according to a list recently released by CCID Consulting Group.

Jiangsu province has a total of six counties in the top 10 ranking. Kunshan, Jiangyin and Changshu county are in first, second and fourth places respectively. Taicang county creeped up from the tenth place last year to the ninth place.

The list was based on the overall economic strength, growth potential, prosperity and green development among the counties across China.

CCID Consulting Group is a scientific research institution directly attached to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It is committed to studying economy, regional development and emerging industries in China for many years. Thus, the ranking enjoys high credibility and authority.

Zhangjiagang, a rising port city along Yangtze River, has made remarkable achievements in economy, culture, finance, commerce and trade in recent years.

The city's GDP reached 272 billion yuan by the end of 2018 with a year-on-year increase of 6.8 percent.

Its industries maintained healthy and steady growth. The total output value of industries above the designated scale in the city reached 354.8 billion yuan, which also made it one of China's top 100 industrial counties in 2018.
