Zhangjiagang Modern Agricultural Demonstration Park was renamed in October 2008. It aims to become a modern ecological park featuring ecological agriculture industries such as scaled planting, mechanization agriculture and tourism agriculture.

In 2009, the park invited the Pudong Planning & Design Institute and Nanjing Agricultural University to create a development plan for the area. Five bases will be set up to develop high-quality rice and wheat, plants and flowers, fruits and vegetables, special aquatic products, livestock and poultry. Tourism agriculture will be an important industry of the park in the future. An AAA tourism site including an ecological park will also be built so people can enjoy the beautiful scenery along the Yangtze River.
