Lu Xingtang, a national Grade 1 artist, was born in Zhangjiagang city, Jiangsu province, in 1938.

His father, a country artist in his hometown, influenced him so much that he wanted to become an artist when he was young.

At 19, he left home for further education. In a craftsmen factory, he met some famous artists, including Fu Baoshi, Tang Yun and Lu Yanshao.

No one has ever succeeded without failure and tests. Lu is no exception. Lu was transferred to a lacquer factory in 1965. Even so, Lu has never stopped exploring arts and creativity. He held a personal exhibition for his works in Yixing.

In 1981, he returned to the Jiangsu Chinese Painting Institute.
