Zhangjiagang was listed as one of China's top 10 happiest county-level cities at the 2017 Chinese Happy City Forum held in Beijing on Dec 7.

The list was sponsored by Xinhua News Agency and Oriental Outlook magazine. It has been composed for 11 years and a total of 986 million residents across China have participated in the sampling survey, one of the most influential selection campaigns.

The list was based on the local residents' sense of identity, belonging, safety and satisfaction and also appraisals from other people.

Taicang, Kunshan, and Pizhou in Jiangsu province were also included among China's top 10 "happiest county-level cities".
