Asadu, a teacher from Uganda, East Africa, started to teach in Zhangjiagang Singapore International School in the city of Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province six years ago.

Talking about his first impressions of Zhangjiagang, Asadu said that he initially thought Zhangjiagang was a small city close to Shanghai. However, he was impressed by the modern buildings around the city after coming here.

Apart from his affinity with his students, Asadu was touched by locals' amity and traditional Chinese culture. The opera channel of China Central Television (CCTV 11) is one of his favorite TV stations. Although having no idea about the opera lyrics, he has developed a strong interest in Chinese opera.

The language barrier did not bother him. It has helped him experience locals' hospitality instead. Strangers, including passers-by and taxi drivers, always try their best to help him. Asadu enjoys the harmonious atmosphere in the city.

During the past six years, Asadu has travelled around the city. Liangfeng Ecological Park is a big attraction for him. The park's lush scenery helps him recall the rich flora and fauna of his hometown. In 2012, Asadu brought his family to Zhangjiagang. Liangfeng has become the top choice for his family outing since.
